Program Forecast:
Radio Free Asia "Journey of the Souls" Profiles Ciping Huang in its Pilot Volume for its new series "The Endearment of the Overseas Chinese to their Homeland"
February 9 of this year marks the Chinese New Year of the Rooster, which is not just observed and celebrated inside China, but also overseas.
A special series called "The Endearment of the Overseas Chinese to their homeland" on Radio Free Asia will take this occasion for broadcasting its pilot volume with several issues focusing on Ciping Huang, Executive Director of the Wei Jingsheng Foundation and Secretary General of the Overseas Chinese Democracy Coalition.
This pilot volume is called: "The Heartfelt Wishes of Ciping Huang". The first chapter of this volume is called: "Ciping Huang and her family and friends in the USA Talking about the Chinese New Year". This first chapter has already been broadcast into China (the first time on February 5). Each chapter will be repeatedly broadcast for six times in one week, mostly during the gold time slots. The second chapter on Ciping will be broadcast starting on February 12. It continues with Ciping's lucky experience in detail as a newcomer to the New Continent, her observations of a democratic and free world, and her contribution to the new society and community wherein she lives, up until the tragedy and sacrifice she and her family had to take for her wish and her work to share what she has with her fellow Chinese back in her homeland. Scores of Ciping's friends, colleagues, family members and old classmates were interviewed for this volume on Ciping Huang.
The series "The Endearment of the Overseas Chinese to their homeland" intends to focus on Overseas Chinese, and will be about their lives and work overseas, their observations and train of thought in a new society, their love for their homeland, friends and families, etc.
This series is within the special program section titled "Journey of the Souls", which is hosted, interviewed, edited, and produced by Ms. Min Zhang, an outstanding and devoted journalist who has won many international awards in broadcasting. Radio Free Asia is a popular radio station that brings the truth to people all over Asia. It is especially significant in breaking the information blockage by the Chinese government.
This program on Ciping Huang is not the first time we have interacted with Ms. Zhang. Just recently on December 13, she produced a moving half hour program about the 1st annual award of the "Wei Jingsheng Chinese Democracy Champion Prize", which can be accessed at:
