The Dust Will Never Cover the History
-- Statement on the 15th Anniversary of June 4, 1989
Fifteen years now have passed since the June 4 Massacre that shocked the world. Although the world has changed a lot, as has China on its surface, the dark cloud on people's hearts has not dispersed. The ones in power, or the victims, or even the general citizens, could not wipe away such a nightmare. People may forget, even forget a lot of Chinese Communism's crimes, but this June 4 is deeply etched into the bones and hearts of all of us and could not be forgotten. Besides this spirit of those who were killed and their beloved ones still wandering around the TianAnMen Square, the Chinese government has also use various means to make people not forget. Because this day, June 4, has become the most important date in the current history, it is an irresolvable knot for those in power, yet it could also serve as the key to open the rigid situation in Chinese politics.
For the last 15 years, those in power have tried to dilute the influence of this June 4. But crime is a crime, which can not be covered or decorated by limited economic development. Time has not made these psychic wounds recover. Instead, due to the government's violent actions, the wounds have deepened. Its biggest impact on the Chinese political environment is that it has made people lose their confidence in pushing the political reform through a peaceful manner. As often happened in history, the road for a peaceful reform got buried by the stubbornness of these rulers.
Time may make things fussier, but could also make things more clear. For everyone, the facts and the truth are there without a doubt. So those people in the ruling class who are directly responsible for the butcheries are the ones who mostly feel the pressure. June 4 has become the sword which is hanging over people's heads - it is only an issue of time to come. All the people know it will be the trial that cannot escape. These killers must take the related legal responsibility for their anti-humanitarian crimes.
On this 15th anniversary, we have to remind those who created that crime that today's world is not a world to be supported by lies and violence. Although the dictators could send the innocents to jail and block and divide the Internet, there is no way to manipulate the information, the truth, the public opinions, especially people's hearts, via cruel ways.
Today, we are not just expressing our memorials to those who died in that massacre, but also shall pay high attention to those who are still in jail for that democracy movement. Meanwhile, we express our respect to the victims' families and the people who continuously fought for righteousness even though paying the price of jail terms. We salute them for their courage and their dignity.
We believe that the final judgment on this matter shall come.
