Wei Jingsheng Gives Keynote Speech at the Netherlands' Seminar about Chinese Communism's End

The European Epoch Times held a seminar about the end of Chinese Communism on February 13, 2005.  It was specially arranged for the well-known Chinese democracy advocator Mr. Wei Jingsheng to give the keynote speech, on the occasion that Mr. Wei was passing through the Netherlands on his way to Norway for the Youth Nobel Peace Prize ceremony.

During the seminar, Mr. Wei reminded people that, at this time when people want the departure of Chinese Communism for good, everyone should also see the reality that the Chinese Communists' "being against its own people" has decided the fact that "the Communism has already departed away from us".

During the seminar, Mr. Wei Jingsheng analyzed two issues that concern the Chinese communities.  One issue is the Chinese economic development.  People think that the current China has a good economy, which seems to be a hot topic in the Western media as well.  Wei Jingsheng thinks that this perception is produced by some media controlled by Western politicians/businessmen who wish the Chinese Communists' rule to continue.

The other issue is the question of who will take care of China if Communism fails.  Wei analyzed: "The Western capitalists have been more and more clear on their stand - they do not want to see Chinese Communism fail.  On the surface, you see the big interest they gain from China through major investments while using the cheapest labor in China.  The fundamental support from the Chinese Communists is the key element to keep this cheap labor, while granting them all the rights including many beyond legitimacy.  So in reality, they have to worry about how to maintain their investment if Communism falls apart.  They really feel that they are much "freer" in China than in the USA, because they can do anything without worrying about legal punishment.  Thus, their interest defines their stand.  Of course, to look at things from a different angle, the Chinese Communists since the Deng XiaoPing era have realized this character of the Western major capitalists.  They use this single-minded pursuit of money as the entry port to dissolve the Western world.  They have been relatively successful in setting up such a circumstance.

Wei Jingsheng thinks that the above two issues are the media work co-produced by the propaganda of the Chinese Communists and their Western cooperators.  It is beneficial to the Communists by the way of deceiving the people.  In particular, the second issue is not an issue at all.  He questioned back: "How could our own people not find people to administrate our own country?  If they are not the first class kind, they could be the second class, or even the third class type.  Even if we picked up the least, they could not be worse that the Communists.  This is the reality.  Even we find people who do nothing, who know nothing, should not it be better off than someone who suppresses people and does all these evil things?"

Mr. Fei LiangYong of Germany, chairman of the Federation for a Democratic China, was also invited to attend.  He expressed: "Without the Communists, we will all be better off."
