Wei Jingsheng Attends and Speaks at the Freedom Day Celebration in Taiwan Held by the World League for Freedom and Democracy
Mr. WEI Jingsheng was invited by the chairman of the World League for Freedom and Democracy, Mr. YAO Eng-Chi, to attend a series of activities on January 22 and 23 in celebration of Freedom Day. The events were held in the Grand Hotel of Taipei, Taiwan. Eighty-eight representatives from 40 countries attended. Mr. Wei was the most celebrated guest of honor there and received a lot of media attention as well.
During the conference, and in the following week, Wei was invited for various activities and media exposure. He met with many well-known politicians and journalists in Taiwan, including the newly elected leader for Taiwan's Legislative Yuan, Mr. WANG Jin-Pyng; the chairman of the KuoMinTang Party, Mr. LIEN Chan; and Taipei mayor Mr. MA Ying-jeou; etc.
One of the most important messages Mr. Wei sent to the people of Taiwan during his visit is that Taiwan must take the aggressive approach of Mainland China very seriously.

魏京生先生参加世界自由民主聯盟在台湾主办的自由日庆祝活动
2005年1月22日与23日，应世界自由民主聯盟会长饶颍奇先生的邀请，魏京生先生参加了由世界自由民主聯盟主办的世界自由日的活动并演讲致词。庆祝大会在著名的台北圆山大饭店隆重举行。全球总共有四十个国家、八十八位党政要员参加。魏京生先生是会场上最受注目的来宾。
除了邀请众多外宾参加这次庆祝活动外，台湾政要也有出席，并有专家博士主持了两场重要的学术研讨会。
会后一周，魏京生先生与更多的政要及媒体见面，并参加活动。此行会见者包括：新任立法院院长王金平先生，国民党主席连战先生，台北市长马英九先生，等等。
魏京生先生在台湾再次强调：中国预定在今年3月完成反分裂国家法的立法，但台湾内部似乎未能严肃正视。他指出，中国像是一匹狼，“狼就要吃羊了”，只是在此之前先找个理由罢了，反分裂国家法就是这个理由。
