Wei Jingsheng Attends Rally in front of the Lincoln Memorial, Encourages Chinese People to Quit the Chinese Communist Party and to Feel Free in their Hearts
On Friday, July 22, over a thousand people gathered in front of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC to rally against the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and to celebrate the over 3 million people who have canceled their membership in the CCP.
Mr. WEI Jingsheng spoke in front of an excited crowd waving all kinds of banners. In a jovial mood, he said: There are a lot of beautiful banners here. One that I really like says, "After quitting the party, your heart will be open and free."
"Living under the CCP is like living in a smelly bathroom. If you have lived there for your whole life you of course would not think that it is smelly. But as soon as you quit the party, it is like you have stepped outside that bathroom, and you say 'Ah', as the sweet, fresh air reaches your nose!"
"This is a movement that brings out the conscience of the Chinese people. Those who quit the party feel their hearts coming free. Those who do not quit the party or do not do it openly look at those people who have free hearts and they feel nervous. The Chinese Communist Party sees this phenomenon, and gets more and more fearful."
"Recently I talked with an old man. He said that after drinking tea for so long, only now he really begins to taste it. Only after the movement of quitting the Communist party has grown so large can we really begin to taste and to feel its essence."
"The CCP has said that the number of people who have canceled their membership has not gotten to 3 million, that the statistics are not accurate, and so on. We do not fight with people about these numbers. With so many people quitting, how can the numbers be accurate? Statistics are not always accurate."
"Moreover, those who criticize the statistics numbers do not understand the significance of this movement. Our movement is to show that everyone, including members of the CCP, have a conscience, and they can bring that conscience out through quitting the Communist Party."
Wei said to those afraid of quitting, you do not have to do it for others' benefit or to help others, just do it for yourself, for your own safety. You can do it openly; you can also do it quietly and in a clandestine manner, but everyone should quit the Communist Party.
Many of the Chinese people think: under the CCP we do not even live like humans. So, said Wei, let's starting living in an open and dignified way, with free hearts, living like real human beings!
Wei's speech received many rounds of applauses that brought the participants to the peak of excitement.

魏京生参加林肯纪念堂前大型活动，鼓励中国人退出共产党
七月二十二日，上千人在林肯纪念堂前举行庆祝退党三百万的大型活动。
魏京生在很激动的观众面前发言。他高兴地说﹕这里有很多很漂亮的标语。尤其有一个我很喜欢﹕“退了党，心里爽”。
“住在中共的统治下就象住在很臭的厕所里。你住了一辈子可能不会觉得臭。但是一退党你就是离开厕所﹐清爽的风就迎面扑来。退党是一个拿出中国人的良心的运动。退了党的人感到心里爽。没有退党的人看着这些人着急。中共看到这个现象越来越害怕。”
我最近跟一个老头谈话。他说喝茶喝了这么久才真的喝出滋味儿。退党运动这么大我们才能体会到它的味儿。
中共说退党的人数还不到三百万﹐数字不准确﹐等。我们不跟人家争数字。这么多人退党数字怎么能准确﹖连美国政府的统计数字也不准确。关键是这个运动的意义。我们的运动就是要表示每个人﹐包括党员﹐都有良心﹐通过退党可以找会这个良心。
魏京生说﹕不敢退党的人﹐你不需要为了别人的利益或为了人权而退党。你就为了自己而退党﹐为了你的安全而退吧。你可以公开的去做﹐你也可以偷偷地去做﹐但我觉得每个人都应该退党。很多真正下决心退党的人就会感觉特别爽，有些人昧着良心替共产党做事已经习惯了，现在终于找回了良心，对自己的生活有了信心，过上了真正人的日子，能不爽吗？所有的人都是有良心的，只是有的人把良心藏了起来，即使不为别人好，为自己能堂堂正正地过个真正象人的日子，也要退出中共，拯救越来越多的中国人的灵魂。"
魏京生的讲话将集会推到了热烈的高潮并赢得了人们一次又一次的掌声，。
