The Wei Jingsheng Foundation Last Call for Nominees for its Second Annual "Wei Jingsheng Chinese Democracy Champion Prize"
The second annual "Wei Jingsheng Chinese Democracy Champion Prize" nomination has been in process. Since the first announcement seeking nominations in August, the foundation has received over a dozen entries, with the participation of over one hundred Chinese democracy activists, mainly from inside Mainland China. Hereby, we want to express our gratitude for the participation, as well as the suggestions and input from our friends all over the world. In particular, we are deeply moved by the devotion and contributions that our fellow nominees have made toward Chinese democracy and human rights. Thanks to those nominators who provide for the outside world an opportunity to know our nominees better.
As this foundation is carefully reviewing each of the nominees and their reference materials, we must inform our friends and readers to submit their nominations for this year by midnight on Sunday, November 20, 2005 (US Eastern Standard Time), for timely review before the decision and announcement of the 2nd annual “Wei Jingsheng Chinese Democracy Champion Prize”.
As most of your might already know, the annual announcement is made on December 5, the date of publication of the well-known article "The 5th Modernization - Chinese Democracy", by Mr. Wei Jingsheng in 1978, a landmark date for the Chinese democracy process. On December 5, 2004, the Wei Jingsheng Foundation awarded its first annual "Wei Jingsheng Chinese Democracy Champion Prize" to Mr. HU ShiGen and Mr. LIU XianBin.

魏京生基金会第二届“魏京生中国民主斗士奖” 提名截止期为2005年11月20日
魏京生基金会第二届“魏京生中国民主斗士奖” 自今年八月开放提名以来，已收到有效提名十多个。在此，本基金会向上百名来自各方尤其是中国大陆的朋友们表示谢意。感谢大家的踊跃提名，及对我们工作的承认。更感谢大家给外界提供更多有关被提名人的优秀事迹的了解。
目前，本基金会即将进入对被提名人的最终审定与评价阶段。有意为魏京生基金会第二届“魏京生中国民主斗士奖” 提名的朋友请在2005年11月20日美东时间的午夜前将被提名人的资料提供给我们。以免延误。
一年一度的"魏京生中国民主斗士奖"的目标是对中国的民主运动进行连续不断的鼓励与推动，因而其得奖对象以支持与奖励在中国国内坚持中国民主运动的个人与团体为主。颁奖日为12月5日 -- 魏京生先生1978年发表的，享有盛名的文章“第五个现代化- 民主”的纪念日。２００４年１２月５日，魏京生基金会宣布将第一届“魏京生中国民主斗士奖”及五千美元的奖金赠与获奖者胡石根先生与刘贤斌先生。
奖金以某匿名人士所认捐的每年一千美元为底金。我们也感谢并希望其它支持中国人权与民主运动人士的积极捐赠。在此，我们向去年所有的捐赠者表示感谢。魏京生基金会是一个在美国联邦政府注册的非营利性机构，您的捐款可获得我们发给的（在美国免税的）捐款证明。您也可以注明您是否希望得到我们的公开感谢。
