International Society Should Investigate Organ Harvesting from Detainees in China
(Huang Ciping's Speech at Washington DC Rally on April 13)
On April 13, FaLun Gong practitioners in Washington DC held a rally asking for the investigation of Chinese Communists' organ harvesting from FaLun Gong practitioners. The rally calls for US President Bush, international society, and news media to pay attention to and organize an investigation in Mainland China. Various witnesses and organizations have jointed this rally.
The Secretary-General of the Overseas Chinese Democracy Coalition, Huang Ciping, was invited to give a speech at the rally, which took place on Farragut Square in Washington, DC. She condemned organ harvesting from prisoners in China and called on international society to pay attention. The following is her recollection of her speech.
I see many people are wearing white flowers here today. In China, we mourn our deceased by wearing white flowers. These flowers remind me of thousands of Falun Gong practitioners who died under suppression, as well as the millions of Chinese who died under the Chinese Communism regime. Here in this free country we are very fortunate. Because we have left China, and we can stay alive here and call on the people of the world, especially Americans here, to pay attention to Chinese human rights problems. In particular, to pay attention to the suppressed people in China, those who advocate for Chinese democracy, various religious and belief groups such as FaLun Gong practitioners and underground Christians, and thousands and thousands of other people who died under suppression.
Today, we especially want to point out ongoing suppression in China that is extremely inhuman that happens in some jails: where prisoners' and detainees organs are harvested. We all know the large-scale death penalties in China, although to this day we do not know the exact number. Meanwhile, we also know people are disappeared without a trace. People organs are sold for profit, to be used by those who are wealthy and those who are powerful. For example, in the United States, we all know that it often takes years to locate a matching organ. But in China, they can guarantee to provide the needed organs in a few days. Let us think about it, how do they get these organs?
Hereby, I am calling for all of us to unite together; work together, to ask the Chinese government stop the persecution of FaLun Gong practitioners. We are here also call on international society to give pressure to the Chinese government, to pay attention to the crime of organ harvesting in China, as well as to begin a full-scale investigation of this crime there.
I know many incidents where FaLun Gong practitioners suffered suppression. We have also learned of many from witnesses who suffered through that suppression. Within a few days, Chinese President Hu JinTao will come to the US and visit this city. We are here urge the American government, especially President Bush, to raise this organ harvesting issue to President Hu. We need the whole world to know what is happening in China. We need the whole world to support the Chinese who do not have their deserved human rights and basic living rights in China.
Finally, let me emphasize that we must unite together to ask the American government, American President, as well as the US Congress to apply pressure to the Chinese government and request investigation of organ harvesting in China.
Thank you all.
