Wei Jingsheng as a Keynote Speaker of Labor Rights Forum in Orange Country, California, and Met with Students at Soka University of America
Mr. Wei Jingsheng was in Orange County, California from May 11 to 13. Mr. Wei was invited by the Vietnam Human Rights Network (VHRN) to discuss joint effort of the two national human rights groups and was the keynote speaker for their human rights forum with special focus on labor rights.
The other speakers and participants included representatives from the Committee for Human Rights in Vietnam, former leaders of the independent labor union under the Republic of Vietnam, the Vietnamese Catholic Movement, the Vietnamese Community in Southern California, and various human rights activists as well as legal professionals in Southern California.
The participants unanimously pledge their support for the cause of labor rights in Vietnam and China, including the rights to form independent unions, to organize labor strikes, and to work under safe and humane conditions as stipulated by the International Covenant on Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights and International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, together with such International Labor Organization's agreements as Convention 87, Convention 98, and Convention 135. The Conference also pledges to promote other basic human rights and fair trade.
In the morning of May 11, Mr. Wei met with the leadership of the VHRN to explore ways to cooperate and coordinate the labor rights campaign. In the afternoon Mr. Wei spoke to the general membership of VHRN.
In the morning of May 12, Mr. Wei spoke to the students of Soka University of America. He was enthusiastically received. The question-and-answer and discussion with staff and students continued through lunch until 3 pm.
Again on the morning of May 13, Mr. Wei conferred with the VHRN. The result is a Coordination Committee charged with formulation of structure and guidelines for the campaign; with the provision of other national groups joining in the future.

魏京生受邀在南加州参加越南人权日活动并就劳工权益主讲；及在美国创价大学演讲
2006年5月，魏京生先生受越南人权网络的邀请在南加州参加越南人权日的庆祝活动，并在美国创价大学(Soka University of America)演讲。
5月11日上午，魏先生与越南人权领袖们会面并讨论今后的合作可能。5月11日下午，魏先生就有关劳工的权益方面主讲并参加讨论。越南各界关注人权的人士以及劳工活跃分子、宗教人士、及法律工作者参加了有关活动。
5月12日上午，魏先生与美国创价大学的学生会面并受到热烈欢迎。他与校方及学生的讨论与提问一直延续到午饭后，到下午3点才结束。
5月13日上午，魏先生与越南人权领袖们再次会面，并决定加强合作。同时就今后有关合作及成立广泛的亚洲人权协调组织进行了讨论与安排。
