The Wei Jingsheng Foundation to Hold Democratic Free Asia Leaders Conference in the US Capitol

In order to promote cooperation and unity among Asia-related human rights and democracy leaders, the Wei Jingsheng Foundation will be the chief sponsor hosting Democratic Free Asia Leaders Conference, in Washington, DC, USA.
The theme will be "Human Rights, Freedom and Democracy in East Asia." This Democratic Free Asia Leaders Conference will concentrate on China and its surrounding countries and regions. The conference will be open to the media from 1pm to 3pm on Tuesday, September 19, in the US Capitol main building (room HC-9).
Various leaders will attend the Democratic Free Asia Leaders Conference from many regions and countries, including representatives of the Mainland Chinese, Taiwanese, Tibetans, Uyghurs, Mongolians, etc. as well as representatives from other Asia countries. The attendees include:
Wei Jingsheng, Chair, Overseas Chinese Democracy Coalition
Huang Ciping, Secretary-General, Overseas Chinese Democracy Coalition
Ye Ning, Chair, Free China Movement Foundation
Chen Wen-yen, Executive Director, Formosan Association for Public Affairs
Karma Gyaltsok, Chair, Tibetan Association in USA
Jamyang Norbu, spokesperson for RANGZEN ALLIANCE, World Council of Tibetans for an Independent Tibet.
Dolkun Isa, Secretary General, World Uyghur Congress
Rebiya Kadeer, President, Uyghur American Association
Alim Seytoff, General Secretary, Uyghur American Association
Shibtsood Temtselt, Chairman, Mongolian People's Party
As well as other leaders and representatives including the assistant to the Prime Minister of the Burmese Government-in-exile, etc.
The purpose of the Democratic Free Asia Leaders Conference is to reach an understanding between one another, to build a free Asia coalition under the flag of human rights and democracy, to unite each other in an effort to create a network world wide, step by step. The participants want to take this unique opportunity to discuss and coordinate future efforts in dealing with the dictatorship of the Chinese Communists, in an effort to gain freedom and dignity for all.
An initial preparation meeting in the spring leads to the decision to have this formal conference at this time.

魏京生基金会将在美国国会举行亚洲自由民主领袖会议
为推动东亚的民主与人权进步,魏京生基金会将于2006年9月在美国首都华盛顿主持召开亚洲自由民主领袖会议。9月19日下午的会议将对媒体开放。
时间;2006年9月19日下午1点到3点
地点:美国国会主楼HC-9会议厅
来自美国及世界各地的亚洲活动家们包括有:中国民主运动海外联席会议主席魏京生、自由中国运动基金会主席叶宁、台湾人公共事务会执行长陈文彦博士、全美西藏协会主席嘎玛加措、国际西藏独立运动协会发言人蒋拥罗布、维吾尔国民大会总书记多力坤、美国维吾尔协会主席热比娅及总书记塞托夫、蒙古人民党主席席海明,缅甸流亡政府总理助理等领袖人物,及其它国家的代表。
领袖会议将讨论东亚的自由、人权现况,及民主发展。并在一致对抗中国共产党的专制独裁,争取东亚人民的自由与和平的共识下寻求全球性的协调与合作,争取东亚的民主与进步。
