Announcement:
"Wei Jingsheng Chinese Democracy Champion Prize" Judging Committee Holds Meeting in Little Rock, Arkansas, with Dr. LU WenHe Joining the Prize's Judging Committee
On September 1, 2006, "Wei Jingsheng Chinese Democracy Champion Prize" Judging Committee holds a meeting in Little Rock, Arkansas, USA. All current members of the judging committee, HUANG Ciping, CHEN Xingyu, CHEN Bangzheng and LIU Jijie, attended and participated. Mr. WEI Jingsheng and Dr. LU WenHe also presented.
This is the first meeting-in-person since the history of the "Wei Jingsheng Chinese Democracy Champion Prize" and formation of the judging committee from year 2004. The progress and achievement of the last two years awards were reviewed, as well as this year's nomination and development.
During the meeting, with the recommendation of Mr. Jijie Liu and agreement from all the members of the Prize's judging committee, Dr. WenHe LU was recommended to join the "Wei Jingsheng Chinese Democracy Champion Prize" judging committee. The Wei Jingsheng Foundation is very pleased that Dr. LU has agreed to join the committee and is proud of this new asset to the organization. Hereby, we want to take the opportunity to acknowledge our appreciation to Dr. Lu's long time contribution to Chinese democracy and human rights, including his support to this foundation and our work for the last several years.
Dr. LU WenHe is from Shanghai and was in middle school when the Chinese Cultural Revolution started. He went to Inner Mongolia in 1969 and stayed there for the following 9 years. He attended a college there. After the end of the Cultural Revolution he was admitted as a graduate student in Beijing. He came to the US in 1980 and got his Ph.D. in Econometrics (University of Florida) as the first person from Mainland China received such a degree from the USA since 1949. He is now an actuary working for a US insurance company.
Dr. LU WenHe has been active in the work with IFCSS (The Independent Federation of Chinese Students and Scholars, USA) after June 4 massacre in Beijing in 1989 and is a long time supporter of Mr. Wei Jingsheng.

公告：魏京生基金会“魏京生中国民主斗士奖”评委会聚会小石城，陆文禾博士加入评委会
2006年9月1日，魏京生基金会“魏京生中国民主斗士奖”评委会在美国阿肯色州首府小石城聚会。评委会全体成员黄慈萍，陈兴宇，陈邦铮，刘继杰举行了自魏京生基金会“魏京生中国民主斗士奖”设立及评委会成立两年多来的第一次面对面的会议。同时与会的还有魏京生先生本人及陆文禾博士。
评委会回顾了过去两届“魏京生中国民主斗士奖”的进展与成就，并对2006年度的“魏京生中国民主斗士奖”的提名情况进行了讨论。
经刘继杰先生推荐，陆文禾博士本人同意，所有评委会成员一致赞同陆文禾博士加入魏京生基金会“魏京生中国民主斗士奖”评委会。魏京生基金会谨此感谢陆博士多年来对中国自由民主运动的贡献，对魏京生先生本人长期的支持，及数年来对魏京生基金会的贡献。
陆文禾是上海人。老三届内蒙古插队。内蒙古上工农兵学员。文革后国内首届研究生。美国弗罗里达大学一九八六年经济学博士。现为美国公司精算师。
