Wei
Jingsheng Foundation's Artwork List for "The Crimes of the Chinese
Communist Party in the 60 Years Under Its Regime and the Chinese People's
Resistance" Series
--
A Historic Review of the 60 Year of People's Republic China
Artwork
1: Suffering under the Chinese Communist Party's Regime
Preface:
The
Chinese Communist Party has relied on both armed force and lies to seize the
state power. After the Communists established the People's Republic of China on
October 1, 1949, it violated its own promise of "establishing a democratic
government". Instead it built
a "socialist system" under one party's dictatorship. In the last 60
years, the Chinese Communist Party has continuously used means of deception and
suppression to enforce its regime and thus has produced a magnificent scale of
disasters in China, as well as to world peace. This art exhibition uses graphic paintings and sculptures to
illustrate the history of the tyranny conducted by the Chinese Communist Party,
as well as the history of the Chinese people fighting against the tyranny.

2:Waiting For Your Apology
"Land
Reform", the Suppression of Counter-Revolutionaries, and the Anti-rightist
Movement - Flowers of the Evil
The
People's Republic of China (PRC) was established by the Chinese Communist Party
in a path reeking of blood.
"Land Reform" was the abolition of the landlord class and
confiscation of all land from the individual farmers. Many landlords were sent to the guillotine and
executed. Since then personal property
in China has no longer been protected but condemned and exploited. The
"Suppression of counter-revolutionaries" resulted more than 7,000,000
people killed, including those who spoke against the wrong-doing of the new
government, who dared to speak out different opinions, who unluckily served the
old government, and even those who helped to create the new P. R. China by
risking their own lives but lost their trust.
In
1957, many naive and upright intellectuals stood up and spoke out their
opinions with enthusiasm, in response to the government calling for
"helping our country". They thought they were doing wonderful things
for Chinese people but what they got was a shocking and terrible future. These
"rightists" lost their education, career, future and even their
lives. Many were sent either to
labor reform camp or prison. Even according to the Communist government's own
document, 2,013,300 people were entitled "rightists", with more than
72,700 arrested, 22,100 suicides, and 3,500 disappearing or dieing
abnormally. The "Anti-rightist
Movement" created a sharp knife pointing at any Chhinese who would dare to
speak out the truth in the future.

3: Crossing the Yalu River
The
Korean War -- the Beginning of Supporting Dictatorships
In
1950, China participated in the Korean War. Many Chinese people who were
deceived by the propaganda joined the war with "justified belief" and
became young skeletons in Korea.
Many years later, people found that the so-called "War of
Justice" was nothing but a support of a corrupted dictatorship. For more than a half century, the
Chinese government has helped and supported many dictatorships that have
created more suppression, exploitation, and horrifying slaughters in the world.

4: "producing 70,000 lbs of crop per acre"
"People's
Commune" and "the Great Leap Forward" - Deaths in Tens of Millions
The
People's Communes were the glorified ultimate result propagated by the
Communist government. Yet, they did not provide food regardless of drought or
flood as claimed. When a family contributed all of their properties and effort
to the "Great Leap Forward" movement, what was waiting for them was
not an advanced life but starvation, famine, and even death. Between 1959 and 1962, there were over
38,000,000 Chinese killed due to famine and other types of human disasters
caused by the Communist government's policy. It was a time filled with ignorance, lying and fake
reports. In those places called
"producing 70,000 lbs of crop per acre", what you could see were
starving children and dying elderly.

5: The Dalai Lama
Suppression
in Tibet -- Only because I'm a Tibetan
The
Tibet Plateau, blending Heaven and Earth in peace and tranquility, is the
homeland of the Tibetans. They lived there for thousands years embracing their
own beliefs and culture. Suddenly
everything changed in one night in 1959.
The Communist army intruded, the temples became forbidden places and the
Tibetans' leader the Dalai Lama became a formidable enemy. There was no reason for the crude
actions, only because Tibetans are Tibetans. The beautiful words like "we are friends",
"autonomous" and "Han-Tibetan are in one family" only made
Tibet exploited of its resources and poverty stricken.

6: "Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence"?
The
Sino-India War - Handshaking Above the Table, Kicking Under the Table
On
the surface, the 1962 Sino-Indian war was known as the border conflict. Beyond that, it was a power conflict,
and expressed China's anger towards India's acceptance of the exiled government
of Tibet lead by the Dalai Lama in particular. What the outside world is not quite aware of, it was a way
for the Communists to shift people's attention away from their own
starvation. Despite the "Five
Principles of Peaceful Coexistence" initiated by the Chinese government,
Chinese Communists took no hesitation in a war against its neighbor. This war proved that the China
government's slogan "anti-hegemonic and aggression of other
countries" did not apply to itself.

Cultural
Revolution -- the Disaster of Destroying Culture
In
1966, the Communists started the Cultural Revolution, which destroyed many
Chinese treasures accumulated in the past 5000 years. They burnt many books and sealed schools. During the period, factories and
universities were closed, homes were intruded, properties were confiscated, and
human dignities were trampled down. Youth were sent to the countryside, the
middle-aged were forced to go to the labor camps, parents and relatives became
enemies and betrayers, informants and fighting existed everywhere. Even those who had done outstanding
service for establishing the New China could not escape the chaos and were
illegally confined, tortured in political campaigns, and finally disappeared
without a trace. More than
2,000,000 people were killed. That
crazy time made a cultural desert in China. It destroyed not only the cultural legacy, people's
properties, a young generations' future, but also the nation's moral and
national fiber.

8: Nirvana of the Goddess of Democracy
The
Democracy Wall -- Lighting Fire for a Chinese Democracy
There
is an unusual wall in Xidan, Beijing.
There started a democratic movement in China to announce its advocacy of
political freedom and democratization.
The Democracy Wall woke up Chinese people who had been suppressed,
fooled and threatened for too long.
Thousands of people visited the wall everyday in order to absorb the
democratic spirit and ideas.
Although the Democracy Wall was destroyed by the Communists' paramount
leader Deng Xiaoping and the key authors were put to prison, the people's
determination for freedom and democracy could not be stopped. From the 1980's elections in the
university, to the later democracy demonstrations on the street, the Chinese
people have not given up.

Wei
Jingsheng - "Fifth Modernization - Democracy"
In
1978, Wei Jingsheng published his essay "The Fifth Modernization -
Democracy" which received wide attention and thus he was called the
"Father of Chinese Democracy" in the world. Although his actions resulted in his imprisonment for 18
years, he lit the hope of freedom and democracy for the people, and he
continues his effort till now.

1986-1989
Student Movements - Hope for Democracy
During
1986-1989, Professor Fang Lizhi gave democracy lectures all over China. Tens thousands of young students
gathered to think about the country's future, and to pursue the freedom in
action. What they were calling for
was nothing more than a dialog with their government on how to combat corruption
and how to start political reform.
Yet, waiting for those young people of enthusiasm and hopes was the
merciless crackdown of the Communist government. In 1989, the democracy
movement spread all over China.

The
June 4th Massacre - Communist Regime's Answer
When
the hunger strike started in TianAnMen Square, supported by the students,
workers, and other civilians, the call for democracy reached its highest
pitch. However, the Communist
government sent troops to Beijing.
The students and residents of Beijing used their bodies and sincere
appeals to stop the army. Yet, in the early morning of June 4th, 1989, tanks
rushed into TianAnMen and ran over sleepy students. The army opened fire on the
protesters and killed thousands of innocent people. ChangAn Road, the widest road in the world, was covered with
the lifeless bodies of these youthful lives. The Communist government used these tanks and machine guns
in response to the peaceful pro-democracy demonstrations.

Suppressing
Falun Gong -- Ongoing Persecution and Suppression in China
After
the TianAnMen massacre, the government never eased up their abuse of human
rights, from carrying out a war on minority ethnic groups, to suppressing
religious beliefs, and to increasing detention and harassment of dissidents,
maintaining tight controls on freedom of speech. In 1999, the Communist government declared Falun Gong as an
"illegal organization" and "cult". Since then, Falun Gong practitioners in
China have been subjected to torture, illegal imprisonment, beating, and forced
labor, as well as organ harvesting and psychiatric abuses. So far, several thousand practitioners
have died in detention and many more are detained in the labor camps.

Deformed
Economic Reform - Extreme Disparity Between Rich and Poor
It
has been 30 years since Deng Xiaoping advocated economic reform of the
"four modernizations". Yet, opening China's veil of "quick
economic development" and "prosperity" has brought corrupted
officers, 20 million petitioners seeking for justice, collapsed mines killing
miners, pitiful child labor, "Cancer villages" and "AIDS
villages" where people have lost hope and are waiting to die. The extreme economic disparity has made
a few rich people live a rotten and corrupted life while the majority of the
common people suffer more and more in poverty. The dictators are now speeding up the persecution. In this persecution, the prisons in
China are like an invisible crematorium, trying to burn up and destroy the
democratic spirit.

16: We Shall Overcome
United
Together -- Against the Chinese Communist Party
Between
2008 and 2009, the minorities in China rose up one after another. Their different religions, costumes and
culture became a cause for being suppressed. If anyone dared to oppose the Communist regime, they were
immediately entitled "criminal" and "separatists breaking away
from the Motherland". The
Communist government left the minorities without hope and justice, feeling
homeless even in their homeland.
In one episode after another, the Communist government skillfully
controlled and manipulated the situation in order to increase the hostility
between Han people and minority groups such as the Uyghurs and Tibetans. The
democratic forces of different ethnic groups and different countries must unite
together to oppose the suppression by the Chinese Communists and to have world
peace.
