Purpose
of the Press Conference:
The
Chinese Communist Party (CCP) relied on both armed force and lies to seize the
state power and to maintain its power.
The Communists established the People's Republic of China on October 1,
1949, under its one party's dictatorship.
In the last 61 years, the Chinese Communist Party continuously used
means of deception and suppression to enforce its regime and thus has produced
a magnificent scale of disaster in China for its people, its culture, and its
environment, etc.
As
the 61st anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China is
approaching, we mourn the victims killed by the tyranny of the CCP and condemn
the crimes against humanity committed by the CCP. More importantly, we want to promote democracy and human
rights, especially to all the Chinese and people who suffer due to the CCP's
tyranny.
We
are publishing "Lessons in Democracy," written by Roland Watson, and
translated into both traditional and simplified Chinese by the Wei Jingsheng
Foundation as the reference for the freedom striving Asian people. Leading human rights, environmental,
and democracy champions from the US Capitol and from other states of the USA
will join us in support of this initiative.
Following
the press conference, experts and activists on human rights and democracy in
China and Asia will present a seminar on democracy and autocracy, cosponsored
by Asia Democracy Alliance, along with various human rights and democracy
organizations and political opposition parties in the Communist States.

中国共产党靠谎言和武力夺取了政权并维持政权。在1949年10月1日建立了一党专制下的“中华人民共和国”。在过去的61年间，中共持续地以欺骗和镇压来巩固它的政权，并对中国及周边地区造成巨大的灾难。数以千万计的人民死于非命，文化和环境遭到史无前例的破坏。
在中共篡权61周年将临之际，我们谴责中共的罪恶，悼念中共暴政下死去的无辜人民。更重要的是，我们向人们宣扬民主与人权。
我们将正式发布由罗兰德﹒华生撰写、由魏京生基金会翻译的“民主课程”，作为亚洲地区人民争取自由的参考。来自美国国会及其它东西海岸的人权、环境、及民主领袖们将参加我们的活动。
新闻发布会后，亚洲民主联盟及其它相关的人权、民主团体和反对派政党将共同主办一个有关专制与民主的研讨会。
