Overseas
Chinese Democracy Coalition (OCDC) Holds Its 10th Conference in Williamsburg,
Virginia, USA
From
March 23 to 25, 2012, the Overseas Chinese Democracy Coalition held its 10th
conference in Williamsburg, Virginia, USA. Since its establishment in 1998, the OCDC had held its
conferences in various places in the world, including Niagara-on-the-Lake in
Canada, New York in the USA, Bonn in Germany, Washington DC in the USA,
Gailliard in France, Geneva in Switzerland, Frankfurt in Germany, and Orlando,
Florida, USA.
The
main agenda of this conference was to discuss the current situation in China
and the world, as well as the tasks for the overseas democrats. The conference reviewed the enormous
changes of public opinion and people's thought in the past more than one
decade, especially on the issue of Tibet and Taiwan, and the subject of
revolution. The conference also
evaluated the different attitudes on these issues from different social classes
in China and their influence on the future of revolution in China.
Considering
the rapidly changing situation in China, the conference also discussed the
necessity of revolution in China, and the likely occurrence and adopted styles
and possibilities of revolt, coup, and/or peaceful evolution. The focus of the conference was on what
the democrats both overseas and inside China should be doing to promote people
inside China and seek international support, as well as on basic strategy and
detailed technical operations.
Over
thirty people from 6 countries and regions representing more than a dozen
organizations actively and enthusiastically participated and contributed to the
discussion in this conference.
They included:
The
OCDC chairman, Wei Jingsheng;
OCDC
Secretary-General, Huang Ciping;
OCDC
Deputy Secretary-General and chairman of the Chinese Democratic Front, Wang
Guoxing;
OCDC
Deputy Secretary-General and board member of the Wei Jingsheng Foundation, Dr.
James B. Chen;
Chairman
of the National Committee of the Chinese Democracy Party, Dr. Wang Juntao;
Chairman
of the Chinese Liberal and Democracy Party and OCDC Publicity Committee Chair,
Ni Yuxian;
leaders
of Dhokham Chushi Gangdruk from New York, Tenpa Tenpa and Gyatso Gyatso;
representatives
of Tibetan Youth Congress in Washington DC, Phuntsok Dhargyal and Tsering
Jeshong;
Editor-in-chief
of Big Reference, Li Hongkuan;
president
of the China Youth Foundation, Kong Lingxi;
New
York Times researcher and Boxun reporter, Zhao Yan;
League
for Chinese Seeking Justice in United Nations, Ai Furong;
OCDC
Legal Committee Chair and legal counsel for the Wei Jingsheng Foundation, Ye
Ning;
OCDC
Art Committee Chair, Wang Haiyan; and
board
member of the Wei Jingsheng Foundation, Dr. Jonathan X. Chen, etc.
After
the conference, some participants visited the vicinity of Williamsburg
including Yorktown. Williamsburg
is at the heart of the historic triangle in Virginia. Yorktown is the site where the decisive military campaign of
the American Revolution culminated with the British surrender to combined
American and French forces under the command of George Washington on October
19, 1781. The Siege of Yorktown
effectively ended the six-year struggle of the Revolutionary War and set the
stage for a new government and nation for the USA.

中国民主运动海外联席会议主席魏京生;
联席会议秘书长黄慈萍;
联席会议副秘书长/民阵主席王国兴;
联席会议副秘书长/魏京生基金会董事陈邦铮博士;
中国民主党全委会主席王军涛博士;
