Wei
Jingsheng and Huang Ciping Travel to Europe to Promote Democracy and Human
Rights in China
On
Wednesday, November 13, 2013, Wei Jingsheng, chairman of the Overseas Chinese
Democracy Coalition, and Huang Ciping, its Secretary-General, landed in
Frankfort, Germany, from the USA.
The
main purpose of their Europe trip was in response to invitations from Martin
Schultz, the president of the European Parliament, to attend the 25th
anniversary conference of the Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought. Wei Jingsheng is a previous laureate
awarded "for his courageous opposition against the Chinese Communist
Party, his commitment to democratic reform and to freedom of expression."
However,
prior to attending the 25th conference of the Sakharov Prize to be held in the
European Parliament in Strasbourg, France, both Wei Jingsheng and Huang Ciping
went to Paris to meet with democracy supporters and politicians. Later, Huang Ciping went to Belgium,
then the Netherlands to meet with a group of Chinese freedom and democracy
advocators, as well as victims and witnesses of the June 4 Massacre in 1989 as
part of the coalition networking.
As a way to extend the goal of using the Internet to promote democratic
ideas and freedom in China, Huang Ciping also offered her expertise in the
field of computer and Internet networking to fellow volunteers and supporters.

魏京生和黄慈萍抵达欧洲，进行推动中国的民主和人权之旅
2013年11月13日，中国民主运动海外联席会议主席魏京生及秘书长黄慈萍从美国飞抵德国法兰克福。
他们欧洲之旅的主要目的是缘于欧洲议会主席马丁·舒尔茨的邀请，来参加欧洲议会萨哈罗夫思想自由奖25周年纪念会。魏京生因“勇敢地反对中国共产党，以及民主改革和言论自由的身体力行”而获奖。
在出席在法国斯特拉斯堡的欧洲议会主办的萨哈罗夫奖25周年会议前，魏京生和黄慈萍先抵达巴黎，与民运支持者及政治家会面。之后，黄慈萍前往比利时及荷兰，与中国的民主自由倡导者们，=以及1989年北京六四大屠杀的受害者和证人们会面。怀着扩大利用互联网以促进中国的民主和自由的目的，黄慈萍还为中国民运的志愿者和支持者们提供了她在计算机和互联网领域的知识和服务。
