Hope
of the Spring (a photo journal of illness and recovery)
On
May 17, 2014, more than 20 friends of Wei Jingsheng held a party for him to
celebrate his recent recovery and upcoming birthday on May 20. Everyone was very happy to see Wei
Jingsheng and his smiles, as well as to listen to his stories. At the party, Wei Jingsheng expressed
his gratitude to every attendee as well as the others who expressed concern and
offered help during his difficult times, especially on his recent
hospitalization.

1: There were times that I would write something especially about Wei Jingsheng
and ask him what he thought of it.
"Oh, it is too sentimental!" he responded. We have very different ways of
expression and writings. Then one
day as he had stayed in bed for almost a month, he suddenly told me,
"Well, maybe you could write one called 'Lao Wei and his cat'". He loves cats and cats love him. There are a lot of stories about.

Photo
2: It had been a brutal winter that eroded any spring sign even in March. Another round of storm dumped a lot of
snow.

Photo
3: The room is very cold and Wei Jingsheng is still in fever. He has not be able to afford health
care, even basic health exams these years. He sleeps 20 hours a day and is unable to eat. When he wakes up, he seems like a
zombie without a spirit. He said: "When
the spring comes and weather is warmer, maybe I will recover."

Photo
4: Finally, someone offers to give him exams that came back with terrible
results. He is rushed to the
hospital immediately.

6: Wei Jingsheng is very sick. He
is unable to eat or even drink. He
lost about 40 pounds. This
uncommon illness happens every 100,000 people. The mortality rate is 100% if he is not treated.

7: Sunsets will be followed by dark nights.

were gone, an non-describable sense of sadness and loneness would attack like a
beast.

http://www.weijingsheng.org/pic/newsletters/newsletters2014/newsletters2014-3/1-c-6.jpg
http://www.weijingsheng.org/pic/newsletters/newsletters2014/newsletters2014-3/2-c-2.jpg
http://www.weijingsheng.org/pic/newsletters/newsletters2014/newsletters2014-3/3-c-6.jpg
