The
Result of Xi Jinping's USA Visit
--
Wei Jingsheng
The
one week long US visit by Xi Jinping has ended. So what has he harvested? I think he had great harvest. What his hope for this visit was was not published, so it is
hard to say.
From
the arrogance and self-confidence of he and his government in recent years, he
would have thought the weak American President Obama will cooperate with his
goals. In addition, considering
that Xi's administration has messed up both the economy and diplomacy with a
bunch of retarded advisors, he must have hoped that the Americans would follow
the old cases of Jiang Zemin by offering some economic benefits in exchange for
concessions on issues like cybersecurity and the South China Sea. That is why they have been aggressive
recently on these two issues in preparation for this exchange.
Unfortunately,
not all Americans are retarded, at least not that retarded. The threat of cybersecurity is not that
terrible. Even President Obama has
said that the Americans themselves can resolve this issue. What President Obama said was not an
empty threat; Americans do have this ability.
Not
only does the USA have this ability to control the Internet, further Xi Jinping
hacked a lot of private information of many American citizens, including
millions of government employees, which is an Internet version of the Attack of
Pearl Harbor. This attack gives
reason for Obama to impose economic sanctions.
Could
China's current economic situation be able to withstand the sanctions? Absolutely not. Otherwise, it would be the immediate
downfall of the CCP as what the US presidential candidate Donald Trump
said. Xi Jinping did not take the
risk and obediently signed the Cybersecurity Agreement. This shows that he has a little
cleverness.
So
what should Xi Jinping have harvested from this matter? Trying to play bluff with some bad
cards in his hands illustrates the wrong evaluation of his advisors. Regarding playing evil cheaters,
Americans are much better than these peasants from the northern Shaanxi
Province (where Xi's father came from).
I hope this defeat will wake up Xi to not always trust the presumptions
of his arrogant advisors. He should
keep a realistic mind.
Regarding
the South China Sea issue, it is the Americans who are bluffing. They have no need to worry about this
issue at all, but just to keep verbal pressure. When the Chinese government builds the islands to a certain
extent, the Vietnamese and Filipinos will be anxious. They will invite the Americans to station in Cam Ranh Bay
naval and air base, or Naval Base Subic Bay and Clark Air Force Base. What would be the use of those few
small islands then? It would be no
more than spending the money for a loud noise. Americans would not make a deal with you on this South China
Sea issue unless they suffered some brain damage.
The
core of the South China Sea issue is the attempts of Chinese Communist regime
to control the maritime throat in East Asia. It means to control the maritime trade routes of Japan, South
Korea, the United States and the ASEAN countries. Will this plot succeed? Apparently not.
The plot is more conduct of the mentally handicapped. Suppose one day the Chinese Communist
regime really did cut off this maritime throat, it would not be able to deal
with the American military alone, not to mention an allied coalition of the US,
Japan, and ASEAN countries.
Coupled
with economic sanctions, the Communist regime would collapse instantly. Therefore, the netizens in China are
particularly interested in Xi Jinping initiating the war, thus to see the
collapse of the Communist regime through the use of external force. This conspiracy may prompt Xi to
re-examine his think tank, to figure out who really wants chaos for China and
who is fooling him.
Economic
problems can only be solved through the economy. Xi Jinping gave the Americans tens of billions of dollars of
business orders, yet was unable to buy American businesses continuing their
lobby for the Communist regime.
This is because the huge trade deficit and social costs of the lack of
rule by law not only damages people in the United States and China, but also
undermines the the rights and interests of the American and Chinese
businessmen. Without the opening
of the Chinese market, without the reform of Chinese political system, one
cannot talk about progress of the economic issues. Trying to buy out a country through huge business orders
would only work for small countries in Europe.
Only
talking about the economy but not human rights was the principle of Deng
Xiaoping. This principle and Deng
Xiaoping's policy of only wanting economic reform but not political reform,
have all reached their end. Human
rights and the rule of law is the basis of the entire social system - an
integral part of the whole modern society. The current plight of Xi Jinping is not only the economy and
diplomacy, but the root plight of human rights and the rule of law.
There
was a small team in the crowd following Xi Jinping to protest this time. They were not the new immigrants who
have come to the United States to seek the American dream, but Chinese business
people and entrepreneurs who received unfair treatment in China. They represent hundreds of thousands of
people suffering injustice in China and are seaking justice from the Chinese
government. Their call is as Yang
Jia said: If you do not serve us justice, then we will serve you justice.
These
people were willing to sacrifice themselves to topple the highest
authority. They tried several
times to approach the motorcade of Xi Jinping and Obama, and some were
successful in lying down under the vehicle of Xi Jinping to stop the
motorcade. This show of
determination was the greatest harvest of Xi Jinping's US visit this time. Finally, he saw the angry people with
his own eyes. Finally, he realized
that not all Chinese are submissive slaves. Once they rise up and want justice, no one can protect you -
neither the Secret Service of the White House, or the Chinese police and army.
When
the welcoming ceremony for Xi Jinping began at the White House, there were the
loud protests that represent the resentment the anger and revolt awareness of
the people of different nationalities against the Communist regime in China. Xi Jinping asked the US government to
ensure that he could not see and not hear these protesters. But is this suppression what the United
States government, a government of a democratic country and a government that
respects human rights, should be able to do?
It
had already reached a limit for the American government to assure that Xi did
not get attacked by the angry crowd.
When tens of millions of Communist police cannot stop the angry crowd,
can Xi Jinping ease the crisis by accepting a few petitions? Later, when I was dining together with
these protesting people, I heard their say. They are already familiar with the stalling tactics of the
Communist regime. They will not
always be deceived again and again.
Even
if Xi Jinping did resolve all the issues of these people who have brought their
petition cases to the USA, could he really solve the tens of thousands of
unjust cases in China? There are
many more potential people suffering injustice who have not joined the team of
petitioners. And there are even
more people who suffered injustice after all. This injustice is not a problem of individual cases, but the
injustice of the whole system; the problem of human rights and the rule of law.
If
we do not want China to collapse and in order to ride out the storm for China,
we must solve the two most fundamental problems of human rights and the rule of
law in China.
