US Senator Sherrod Brown Introduces Wei Jingsheng to His Friends in Toledo, Ohio

On April 30, 2018, Wei Jingsheng was in Toledo, Ohio and attended a reception for the Friends of US Senator Sherrod Brown. Senator Brown was delighted to see Mr. Wei. He welcome Wei Jingsheng and gave his friends a remarkable introduction of Wei Jingsheng, especially about his 18 years of imprisonment and his devotion for democracy and human rights in China.

Wei Jingsheng also expressed his gratitude to Senator Brown and told the audience of almost 100 about his most memorable moment with Senator Brown. Wei Jingsheng said: "Around the year 2000, Senator Brown and I were together to fight against granting permanent Most Favored Nation status to China, because of our concern of the Chinese human rights situation and our support to both the American workers and the Chinese workers. Although we lost that battle, after 18 years it has been proven that we were right and we were on the right side."

美国国会参议员谢罗德·布朗与在俄亥俄的托莱多市会见魏京生并向他的的朋友们介绍魏京生

2018年4月30日，魏京生在俄亥俄州的托利多市出席了美国国会参议员谢罗德·布朗之友的招待会。布朗参议员很高兴在俄亥俄州见到魏先生。他高度评价魏京生，并向他的近100位当地朋友介绍了魏京生，尤其是魏京生对中国民主和人权的热爱，以及因此而承受的18年牢狱。

魏京生对布朗参议员表示感谢，并讲述了他有关布朗参议员的最难忘的时刻。魏京生说：“2000年左右，布朗参议员和我共同反对给予中国永久最惠国待遇，因为我们对中国的人权状况的担忧，以及我们对中国工人和美国工人的支持。我们虽败犹荣，因为18年后的今天证明我们当初是正确的，而且我们站在正确的一边。”
