Rumors and Conspiracy Theories

Chinese netizens now believe a maxim: rumors are far-reaching predictions in China. Why is this so? It is because the Chinese Communist Party's official media is the source of true lies and rumors, while private rumors believed by the public are often from the information sources with high credibility.

For example, after the 1976 Tangshan earthquake, I personally heard the director of China Earthquake Administration complain to my father. He said that the Earthquake Administration reported the accurate forecast of the earthquake to the central government in advance, but Wang Hongwen, who was on duty for the central government at the time, refused to issue a warning on the grounds that the "general direction of the struggle should not be shifted". Yet, after the earthquake, the Earthquake Administration was blamed for the responsibility.

Everyone believed the news from me. Because everyone believes me, this so-called rumor becomes reliable information. So from the Cultural Revolution period, there was nothing to keep secret in Beijing. People become more and more convinced of the so-called rumors and they don't believe the official news from the Communist regime, because most of the official news proved to be the real rumors that were untrustworthy after the facts were exposed. The credibility of the news spread by the people who trust each other has been far trustworthier than the official government news. Not even Mao Zedong himself believed the official news, let alone the average Chinese.

Speaking of evidence, it was impossible for me to publicly sell the director of the China Earthquake Administrator, which would cause a series of tragedies to many people. This is the national condition in China, and the average Chinese understands it. But when it is the turn for the so-called experts who defended the Chinese government, their most powerful defense is: you do not have evidence. Chinese and foreign experts who have recently defended the origin of the Wuhan pneumonia virus say: You do not have evidence.

However, foreign experts are more veiled, saying that there is no biological warfare research in China because there is no evidence. This logic is weird: if there is no evidence to prove, then how do you know that biological warfare has not been researched in China? How do you know that it was not virus from the biological war research that leaked? I am afraid that is not the attitude of the scientists to draw conclusions like this. It is difficult to say these scientists are bought out by the Communist regime or not, because we have no evidence.

In fact, many scientists have provided evidence that the virus is the product of gene editing. Official agencies in the United States and the West have warned against Chinese biological warfare research years ago. Recently, western countries have also arrested a number of scientists who have assisted China in gene editing research; Chinese scientists' own papers published in Western professional journals have also indirectly proved the level their technology has reached. It is a true rumor to assert that the Communist regime in China has no biological warfare research, and the epidemic was not due to the leak of biological weapons.

This is not the first time for the leak of biological weapons. In the Soviet Union's biological weapons research base Sverdlovsk, there had been accidents in which biological weapons leaked, killing many people. The Soviet Union also tried to cover up the truth, and some Westerners also defended the Soviet Union. The reason was the same as it is now: no evidence, so no such a thing. The truth came after the collapse of the Soviet Union proved that it was true. Because of extreme secrecy and information closure, you cannot get direct evidence. The current China is the same.

Is it true that the thing does not exist when one can't get evidence? This kind of bizarre logic is very abnormal, not to mention against common sense. Not to mention scientists, even ordinary people with normal logic will not think so abnormally. As the saying goes: If something goes wrong, it must due to a demon. The global penetration of the Chinese Communist regime with soft power and sharp power has long been a consensus. But we have no evidence to say that those scientists are bribed by the Communist regime. Maybe it is due to the silliness of the bookworms.

But when people with normal thinking compare the relatively silly logic with the more normal logic, they would know which one to believe. Moreover, through so-called rumors, the Chinese people have long known that the Communist regime has studied biological warfare. This time, it can be seen from the Internet discussion: except the fifty cents Internet police, both the straight forward and better concealed kinds, are claiming that the Communist regime does not have biological weapons, most people believe that this virus disaster is due to the Communist regime which lifted a stone that was aimed at the others, yet smashed its own feet. But as usual, it is the innocent ordinary people suffer again this time.

Recently, Xi Jinping did do something that has a bit conscience, which is to urgently propose to enact a biosafety law and include it in the national security law. This means that it is not only within the scientific jurisdiction, but also within the supervision and jurisdiction of the security department. Although it is late, it is never too late to make up for it.

谣言与阴谋论

现在中国的网民们都相信一句格言：谣言就是遥遥领先的预言。为什么会如此呢？因为中共的官方媒体才是真正的谎话和谣言的发源地，而被民众所相信的私下传播的谣言，却往往是可信度很高的消息来源。

例如一九七六年唐山大地震之后，我亲耳听见地震局长找我父亲诉苦。他说他们地震局提前向中央报告了地震的准确预报，可是当时中央值班的王洪文，以不得转移斗争大方向为理由，拒绝发布警告。事后又把责任推给地震局。

从我这儿传出去的消息，大家都相信了。因为大家相信我，这个所谓的谣言就成了可靠的消息。所以从文革开始，北京就没有什么事可以保密的。大家越来越相信所谓的谣言，不太相信官方消息了。因为官方消息大多数事后被证明是真正的谣言。而彼此信任传播的消息，可信度远远超过官方消息。连毛泽东本人都不大相信官方消息，何况老百姓。

说到证据，我不可能公开出卖那个地震局长，那会造成一连串人的人生悲剧。这是中国的国情，老百姓都懂。可是轮到为政府辩护的所谓专家，他们最有力的辩护词就是你没有证据。最近为武汉肺炎病毒做辩护的中外专家们的说法就是：你没有证据。

不过外国的专家们还是比较含蓄，说因为没有证据所以就没有生物战研究存在。这个逻辑就很奇怪了：没有证据不能证明，那你怎么知道没有研究生物战呢？你怎么知道不是生物战病毒泄露呢？就这样下结论，恐怕不是科学家的态度。是不是蓝金黄就不好说了，因为没有证据。

其实很多科学家都提出了病毒是基因编辑产物的证据，美国和西方的官方机构，也在多年前就警告防范中国的生物战研究。最近西方国家也抓获了多名协助中国进行基因编辑研究的科学家；中国科学家自己在西方专业刊物上发表的论文，也间接证明了他们技术已经达到的水平。断言中共没有生物战研究，不是生物武器泄露，才是真正的谣言。

类似生物武器泄露的事故，已经不是第一次发生了。苏联的生物武器研究基地斯维尔德洛夫斯克，就发生过生物武器泄露的事故，死亡多人。苏联也是极力掩盖真相，一些西方人也为苏联辩护。理由和现在一样：没有证据证明，所以没有。苏联解体后的真相证明：确有其事。因为极端保密和信息封锁，你不可能拿到直接证据。现在的中国也是一样。

拿不到证据就说明那件事情不存在吗？这种奇葩逻辑很不正常，更不是常识。别说科学家，普通人按照正常逻辑也不会如此反常思维。正如俗话所说：事出反常必为妖。中共在全球的软实力、锐实力渗透，早已是大家的共识。不过我们也没有证据证明，那些科学家是被蓝金黄了。也可能是书呆子比较傻而已。

但正常思维的人把比较傻和比较正常的逻辑对比一下，就知道该相信哪个了。何况中国老百姓多年来通过所谓的谣言，早就知道中共研究生物战武器。这次从网上可以看出：除了五毛和掩饰得比较高明的五毛在说没有生物战之外，大多数人相信这次的病毒灾难，是中共搬起石头砸了自己的脚。不过和往常一样，倒霉的是无辜的老百姓。

最近习主席做了一件还算有点儿良心的事情，就是紧急提出要制定生物安全法，并列入国家安全法内。就是说不仅仅是科学管辖，要有安全部门监督管辖。虽然晚了一些，亡羊补牢，犹为未晚。
