The Voice of America Window on the World and VOA Connect Programs Broadcast VOA Interview with Huang Ciping: The Assassination of Lawyer Li Jinjin Definitely Is Not a Simple Matter

On March 17, 2022, the Voice of America Window on the World and VOA Connect programs broadcasted its host Zhiyuan’s interview with Huang Ciping. The following is a brief introduction.

Li Jinjin, a 1989 Tiananmen pro-democracy protester and a well-known Chinese-American lawyer in New York, was assassinated on Monday (March 14, 2022). Dozens of overseas pro-democracy activists issued a joint statement Monday expressing their "deep sadness" over the killing of Li Jinjin. "Everyone of us knows that Dr. Li Jinjin's greatest wish is to end the tyranny of the CCP," the statement said. "We will work harder to comfort Dr. Li Jinjin as soon as possible."

During the VOA interview, Ms. Huang Ciping pointed out that the death of Dr. Li Jinjin was not simple. The murderer's careful planning and precise actions resulted in Li Jinjin's rapid death. Her political background was shown in her shouts when she was escorted from the police station to the prosecutor: "You are Chinese, yet you are anti-Communist!" From the past series of threats and persecutions against dissidents by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), we can see that the CCP has no bottom line in its nature.

Huang Ciping reviewed Li Jinjin's adherence to the idea of democracy and freedom over the past decades, his experience and hosting of activities in support of democracy and freedom, as well as their past mutual cooperation, especially the co-hosting of the global June 4th Memorial in 2020 between the two. Huang Ciping emphasized that many people do not realize that Li Jinjin is actually a very important and key figure in the counter-attack against the CCP's "Skynet" and "Fox Hunting" operations. In particular, as one of very few lawyers who could successfully apply for political asylum for clients who were wanted by Interpol's Red Notices, he knew many secrets that others do not know.

Huang Ciping pointed out that not all those placed on the Interpol red notice list are corrupt Chinese officials as propagated by the CCP. In fact, red notices have long been a tool for internal struggles within the CCP, and it is also a means for the CCP to crackdown on dissidents. She recalled that Wei Jingsheng was detained by the European police more than 20 years ago because of the Red Notice, and what they encountered in 2017 when she accompanied Wei Jingsheng to the headquarters of Interpol in Lyon, France to protest against Meng Hongwei as its president. Huang also talked about the unsuccessful assassination attempts by the CCP of dissidents such as Wei Jingsheng and the mysterious deaths of some dissidents.

2022年3月17日，美国之音VOA连线及时事经纬节目播出了其主持致远对黄慈萍的采访。以下为内容简介。

1989 年天安门民主抗议活动人士、美国纽约著名华裔执业律师李进进星期一（2022年3月14日）遇刺身亡。数十名海外民主人士星期一联名发表一份声明，对李进进遇害“深感悲痛”。声明说，“我们每个人都知道，李进进博士的最大愿望就是结束中共暴政。我们将更加努力地奋斗，早日告慰李进进博士在天之灵。”

黄慈萍女士在采访中指出：李进进律师之死绝不简单。凶手是精心地策划并精准地行动，才造成李进进的迅速死亡。其政治背景在她被从警察局押送检方时的高呼声中展示了：“你们身为中国人，却要反共！”而从过去中共的一系列对异议人士的迫害威胁中，可以看到中共没有底线的本性。

黄慈萍回顾了多年来李进进坚持民主自由的理念，参加主持支持民主自由的活动的经历，以及双方相互合作的往事，特别是前年两人共同主持全球六四纪念会的情况。黄慈萍认为，许多人没有意识到李进进对中共“天网”与“猎狐”行动的打击，其实是个非常重要关键的人物。特别是他作为少有的能为被国际刑警组织的红通令通缉的客户成功申请到政治避难的律师，并掌握了许多他人不知的秘密。

黄慈萍指出，并不是所有的上了红通的人就是中共宣传声称的贪官污吏。事实上，红通早就成了中共内斗的工具，也是中共借此打击异议人士的手段。她回忆到二十多年前魏京生因为红通被欧洲警方扣留的往事，以及2017年陪同魏京生到位于法国里昂的国际刑警组织总部抗议孟宏伟做主席，因此而遭受到打击报复。她还谈到中共对魏京生等异议人士采取的不成功的谋杀以及一些异议人士离奇死亡的情况。
